Sir I Can't Fucking Breathe They see monsters in the dark Evil beasts with a ghastly grin I see a monster in man's clothing Just another bastard out to rape his daughter Walking further Away from this place They'll hang you from trees And tell you they'll stop but... They still Kill you They still Kill you When will this be the last time? When will I know what its like to never bury a brother? They say if we play by their rules they'll stop killing us Deceivers and cheaters won't stop me from seeing what's- Wrong with these motherfuckers that they've made me praise They've taken too much from all Of us I- Can't watch while they kill all of my friends Say their names (News Audio from stories covering Elijah McClain and Breonna Taylor, as well as audio from a protest for George Floyd) Say their names Walking farther away from this history They want you to believe they can change They put that noose on your neck when you were born Teach your children they're a target for those who protect us And after they've silenced all the women they've beat And the little boys they've fucked They still kill you They still kill you They still kill you They still kill you (More audio from a protest for George Floyd)

about

It has been an absolutely weird year hasn't it?

This EP is split into two sections and I have descriptions for both:

Keeping the Flame Part 1: Parallax Memory

I had planned to start working on the follow up to The Cabin this year and while doing so I had gotten the idea to do some covers. These are my interpretations of two songs I absolutely love by two of my favorite bands. In Cauda Venenum has always been a metal song to me, and Random Reality Shifts always needed the full band sound. You also might notice that I do a lot of clean singing which is still something new and scary for me, and I don't think I nailed it everywhere, but I'm happy with the results.
I hope you guys enjoy these as much as I did writing them.

Keeping the Flame Part 2: They Still Kill You

This section was inspired by the recent events of police brutality and the long systemic targeting of people of color and specifically our black brothers and sisters. Along with the rest of the world I have reacted with disgust and disdain for what transpired with George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Elijah McClain. The first song is just an interlude written by my new friend Cody Coffman. The second song and the namesake of this section, was inspired by an image I had seen floating around Facebook describing how people of color can do everything asked of them by society and police and, simply put, "they still kill you".

Because of the subject matter of this EP, being that it has covers of two of my favorite artists and a song about prejudice against people of color, I do not see it fit for me to charge anything for it. Take this piece of art for free, and show it to your friends. Email me and tell me what you think.

All I ask of you is to remember this: Black Lives Matter. I hope that you all are safe and that this comes as a fun surprise release.

To the rest of you who don't like what I have to say with this EP, or that I shouldn't be "shoving my opinion down your throat" go kick rocks. I don't want you listening to this music anyway.

Tons of thanks to my very good friend Jonas Vece for mixing this entire album for me. He is the secret sauce to my sound and I can not be doing any of this without him, and this record wouldn't be here without him donating his time, skill, and artistry to make it come to life.
